Summer Scarf
I
was inspired by the nice spring weather to
design a pretty and relatively easy lace scarf
that can be used all summer.
Materials:
- 2 skeins of Madil’s
Eden 100% bamboo yarn
- #7 needles
Something to remember about
this pattern is that the number of stitches across
varies. In Rows 1, 2, and 10, you have 32 stitches.
In Row 2, you decrease to 29 stitches and then
in Row 9 you increase again to 32 stitches. Don’t
worry. It all works out and looks just fine.
Cast
on 32 sts.
Knit 3 rows.
Begin
pattern stitch (10 rows total):
Row
1: Knit
Row
2: K2, purl until 2 sts remain, K2
Row
3: K5, *K2tog, YO SSK, K5 * repeat
3 times
Row
4 and all even numbered rows: Repeat
Row 2
Row
5: K4, * K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K3* repeat 3
times, K1
Row
7: K3, *K2tog, YO K3, YO, SSK, K1* repeat 3 times,
K2
Row
9: K4, *YO, K1, Sl1, K2 (not together,
just knit ’em), pass slipped stitch over
both knits, K1, YO, K3*, K1
Row 10: Repeat
Row 2
Repeat Rows
1-10 until you are almost
out of yarn.
Knit 3 rows.
Bind off.
Block scarf to open up the lace.

sl - slip the required
number of stitches (e.g., “sl1” means
you should slip one stitch)
