Cashmere Neckwarmer

This is a sweet little cowl/neckwarmer I made up with the JoJoLand 100% Cashmere — a yarn that’s a pleasure to work with.

The Feather and Fan stitch is a great way to get into lace for those who’ve never done it before. This project took exactly half a skein, so you can make two cowls out of one ball.

Size: One size

Materials:

  • JoJoLand Cashmere, 2 oz./400 yds. per skein, 1⁄2 skein (200yds)
  • size 5 16" circular needles
  • stitch marker

Gauge: 19 stitches to 2-1⁄2" in Feather and Fan pattern (this equals one pattern repeat plus one stitch)

Feather and Fan Stitch

Round 1: * K2 tog 3 times, (YO, K1) 6 times, K2tog 3 times. Repeat from * to end of round.

Round 2: Purl

Rounds 3 and 4: Knit

Pattern

Cast on 162 sts and join into the round, making sure there are no twists.

Place a marker. Begin Feather and Fan stitch at Round 1.

Repeat rounds 1 through 4 sixteen times.

Purl 1 round.

Bind off loosely.

I didn’t block the cowl because I liked the ruffliness of it and didn’t want to flatten it out.

Abbreviations Used in This Pattern:

K - Knit

st/sts - stitch/stitches

tog - together (as in K2tog—"knit two stitches together")

YO - yarn over
