Two
Toe-Up Socks on a Single Circular Needle
This is the toe-up pattern I’ve been teaching people,
so I thought it was high time I wrote it out. It is my
regular toe-up pattern, modified for the two-socks-on-one-circular
method. If you haven’t tried knitting two socks at
the same time, I highly recommend it! It cut down the
amount of time it takes me to make a pair of socks by a
third. Previous Patterns
The Wave Hat
Wave
Hat
This adult-sized hat has a nice abstract wave pattern reminiscent
of Greek art. It ties under the chin and has ear flaps
to keep you toasty warm!
Baby
Raglan Sweater
This is the sweater that goes with the Baby
Fruit Hats from a few years ago. So many people
like the pattern that I decided to include it on the web
site! The sweater is knit from the neck down, which means
there are no seams to contend with at the end.
Entrelac
Scarf
Entrelac is just little squares and triangles of knitting
attached to each other by both picking up stitches and
by knitting stitches together with ones from the previous
tier. When finished, it almost looks like the tiers of
blocks are woven.
Summer
Scarf
I was inspired by the nice spring weather to design a pretty
and relatively easy lace scarf that can be used all summer.
Ribbed
Baby Hat
A hat is always a great quick gift for a new baby. Our latest
free pattern is a simple ribbed hat that uses 50g of any
DK or worsted-weight yarn you have around. I used one skein
of Classic AL. I even had enough left over to make a pompom.
“Fur” Hat
Just in time for blizzard season! I made this hat with
one skein of Happy and one skein of Cascade 109 bulky. You
can use 50g (90 yds) of any eyelash and 100g (109 yds) of
any bulky you like.
Toddler
Felt Hat
You may have seen this adorable hat at our table atthe 2004 Knit-Out. The
hat ws so popular that we ran out of patterns early on, but now you can
get one online!
If you prefer, you can download a print-friendly Word
version of this pattern (1.2 MB).
Ribbon
Poncho
This openwork poncho made with Deco ribbon yarn is elegant enough for
a special occasion. I made myself one to wear to a wedding.
Lace
Hair Kerchief
This is a great first lace project. You can use DK (double-knit)
or sport-weight cotton to make a nice little kerchief. You can also use
this pattern to make a shawl, using any yarn you like, by knitting until
you get the desired size.
To do this project, you will need to know how to do
a slip 1 (Sl1), yarn over (YO) and a knit 2 together (K2tog) in addition
to the usual knit, purl, cast-on and bind-off.
Warm
Ribbed Winter Hat

|
Melissa is a member of our knitting
group who became a brand-new, shiny emergency medical technician
just as the weather turned bitter cold!
Because of this, I decided to make her a really
warm hat that she could wear while she works. I used two skeins
of Cascade Pastaza in navy blue. The ribbing makes the hat stretch
or contract to fit just about anyone.
Here
is the pattern. |
Baby Fruit
Hat
This hat is designed to go
with the popular Baby
Raglan-Sleeve Sweater pattern we sell in the shop. In fact, you can knit the hat
out
of the leftover yarn from the sweater, plus a little
DK-weight yarn in green for the stems and leaves.
Directions are included here for both a grape and a
blueberry hat.
Also included: instructions
for making knitted cord.
Child’s
Sock Pattern
This is a great little sock for any child whose
feet are 6” long from heel to toe. You can get two pairs of anklets
out of one 50-gram ball of Regia or other fingering-weight sock yarn.
Eyelash-Yarn
Scarf
This is a scarf with a trick: It’s knit in
a tube so that it can be worn as a scarf or a cowl.
American
Flag
Here’s an easy pattern I came up with to
make a knitted flag. The stars are embroidered on at the end.
Fast Baby Mittens
This is a great little pattern when you need to
make a baby gift FAST!
